Final spurt in Antwerpen

First of all, the title could refer to the fact that four Swiss European Team Championship players tested themselves for a last time on international ground before the upcoming highlight in Prague at the end of this month. That is of course absolutely true and they proved to be ready with their successes. Nevertheless, the title alludes more to the sprint of three of the players (who don’t want to be mentioned by name here) through the airport in Brussels to catch their flight home. Luckily, C.S., M.S. and P.L. were as fast as they were on court and just made it on time. We’ll just never find out whether they were sweating more on court or at the airport.

BUT, what we do know for sure, is that Christian Schäfer und Michael Strässle won gold together in the Men’s Doubles B category and Patrick Lorenz, who played his first international tournament abroad, won silver in Men’s B!

Three more medals were won by Nicole Eisler. Unfortunately, she lost the Women’s Elite Final against Belgian player Lieselot De Bleeckere, who used the opportunity of playing on home ground to win her first ever international Racketlon title. But as always, ending a tournament as the runner up is more about winning silver than losing gold. Eisler took home another silver medal in Women’s Doubles competition with Kirsten Kaptein (NL) and won bronze together with her boyfriend Korbinian Heim in the Mixed category.

PS: All international reports are written in English as explained earlier this year, to give an international feeling and have a neutral language in our multilanguage country AND to help some of the players to improve their English skills. M.S. please ask (= fragen) if you still need a translation though.
