Two Doubles Elite Titles at the 15. IWT German Open
30 Juin 2025
A small Swiss delegation consisted of only 3 players - Adeline, Graham and Léon - took part in this year's Racketlon German Open at the ZAP in Nussloch. As in the previous years the tournament was organized by a group of students who ensured that the event ran smoothly. Moreover, the nice weather allowed to camp outside the hall. This opportunity was utilized by several players, which made the tournament even more enjoyable and convenient.
Mixed and Doubles Events
With Adeline and Léon only one Swiss pair played the mixed event this year. After some good fights in the heat they ended up fourth. Nevertheless, they enjoyed playing together and could play a lot of nice rallies.
More successful were the players from Switzerland in the doubles events. Graham won all of his group matches together with his partner from Hong Kong in the Men's C Doubles draw and thus got to the final. There they had to play against a German pair, which was a bit too strong for them, such that they ended up second. Adeline and Léon also harmonized very well together with their partners from the Netherlands and from Germany in the Women's Doubles respectively the Men's Doubles elite events. Both of them beat all of their opponents and managed to secure both of the titles! In addition, it has to be mentioned that it was the first time for Léon to win an international doubles elite title.
Singles Events
After the mixed and double matches on Friday the three Swiss players played also singles on Saturday and Sunday. At temperatures well above 30 degrees Celsius Graham, Adeline and Léon gave their best and were able to achieve some good results. However, all of them finished in their categories on the ungrateful fourth place. Despite the results they had some fun beside and on the court and enjoyed the weather in the nice garden in the center.
To sum up, it was a very successful event with great weather, but only a small number of participants. Hopefully there will be a few more Swiss players next year.
The next big international tournament will already be the world championships in Rotterdam, where two teams will represent Switzerland. Good luck for everyone, who will be participating there!
