LNA

4 Rackets Rhine Valley est devenu le nouveau champion de Suisse en remportant les Interclubs. Avec un total de 1326 points gagnés en cinq matchs et une différence positive de 412 points, « 4RRV » (Nicole Eisler, Benjamin Gränicher, Nico Hobi, Thomas Wegmann, Claude Näscher et Marcel Fässler) a survolé cette édition 2018. Les Romands complètent le podium avec en deuxième position le RC Léman (Valeria Pelosini, Cédric Junillon, Magnus Ekstrand, Julien Burnand et Anthony Dumartheray) et en troisième position le RC Genève (Emilie Roux, Maria Morozova, Sylvain Ternon, Nicolas Lenggenhager et Vincent Nicolet). Côté individuel, nous pouvons saluer les performances de Nicole Eisler (4RRV) et Cédric Junillon (RC Léman) qui effectuent un sans-faute en simple en remportant leur 5 rencontres. Alors que le RC Uetikon a sauvé sa peau dans le match de barrage face à Go for 4, c’est malheureusement la relégation pour le 3ème club romand, le Racketlon Yverdon. Les « Freunde Freundlicher Feuerrackets » gardent quant à eux leur place en LNA grâce à leur 4ème place.

LNB

Rapid Luzern (Corina Christener, Philip Häfliger, Michael Wagner, Christoph Müller et Michael Kolp) remporte aisément le titre en LNB. Une domination qui leur ouvre donc les portes de la LNA. Go for 4 et Racketlon Yverdon II obtiennent respectivement la deuxième et la troisième place. Le RC Léman II et les Basel Rackets restent en LNB grâce à leur victoire en match de barrage. En tant que dernier groupe, le RC Uetikon II est relégué en 1ère ligue.

1ère ligue

En 1ère ligue, le RC Léman III (Emma Barbier, Yannick Magnin, Yann Lironi et Shayann Shams) l’emporte grâce à 6 victoires en 6 matchs et se retrouveront ainsi en LNB l’année prochaine. Malgré leur deuxième place, les Zuger Racketeers se sont retirés avant les matchs de promotion. Sihltal Racketlon (3ème) et RC Fricktal (4ème) ont donc tenté leur chance, sans succès. Dans les matchs de classement, c’est le RC Léman IV qui tire son épingle du jeu avec 3 victoires et finit donc à la 5ème place.

With 21 medals Switzerland was the 2nd most successful country after Great Britain when it comes to the amount of trophies won. The Swiss Racketlon Federation is proud of all these impressive achievements, which show the great potential in Switzerland.

Five World Champion singles titles were won by Lina Strässle (U13) and Rachel Xu (U16) – our youngest players – Esther Dübendorfer (O45), Corina Christener (C), Roland Schmid (C) and Bruno Scherrer (E).

Title number 6 was won by our O40 Team with Esther Dübendorfer, Andre Bandi, Magnus Ekstrand, Raphael Paglia and Roland Schmid. They clearly dominated their category.

When it comes to the elite classes, Austria was clearly the strongest country winning the team competiton, Women Singles (Christine Seehofer) and ending 2nd in the Men Singles (Lukas Windischberger). The Swiss elite players managed to stay in the Championship Division with victories over Czech Republic and France.

In the elite singles draws Beni Gränicher reached his first ever world champs quarter-finals, finishing 5th, and Nicole Eisler finshed 7th after also having reached the quarters.

The atmosphere in this amazing venue was fantastic. Nearly 500 players from all over the wolrd took part in this sports festival which would not have been possible without Esther and Florian Dübendorfer. The organising couple with their team worked hard to make this 16th FIR World Championships an unforgettable event. A big thank you from the Swiss Racketlon Federation. Great job!
